Haiku is a Japanese poetic form which follows the rule of 3 phrases of 5, 7 and 5 syllables respectively. It is a great exercise in tight writing. Here is my haiku to my cat (not that he would take any notice, of course):
Coal black fur relax;
Jade eyes stare at worlds between
here and there. Show me.
